Coming soon / Now looking for founding writers
Men. In their own words.
What Men Really Think is a new home for men from every country and every walk of life to say what they actually think, how they think, and why. No polish, no politics, no preaching. I'm looking for the first men to write for it.
Before launch
Why founding writers matter
The first stories set the tone for everything that follows. When the site opens, yours will be among the first a reader ever sees, and the men who come after you will write because of what you wrote.
There's no experience required and no audience to build. Just something true you've been carrying, told the way you'd tell it.
Four ways to write
What you can send
A full story
As long as it needs to be. Your life, a moment that changed you, something you've never said out loud.
100 words
A whole story in a hundred words or fewer. Harder than it sounds, and it often hits harder too.
An answer
Pick a question and answer it: What's the best advice your father never gave you? When did you first feel like a man?
An invention
A product that doesn't exist but should, plus the real version a man can do today. For the monthly Catalog.

Write about anything
Before you write
The rules are short
- I won't edit your words
Your grammar, your spelling, your voice. It runs the way you wrote it, or it doesn't run at all. If something needs to change, I'll tell you why and you decide. - Language is fine
If cursing is how you talk, write it that way. What doesn't belong is language for its own sake, with no story under it. - No politics, no religion as a cause
Your faith or your loss of it can be part of your story. Preaching, or arguing which side is right, is not. - Your own story, your own words
Your life, written by you. No AI, no borrowed stories. - Protect people, including yourself
Don't name or identify a private person. And leave out anything that could identify you. - Hard subjects are welcome
If your story is about suicide, self-harm or wanting to die, I want to read it. Just leave out how.
Put these in the email:
- Your pen name, the name readers will see
- Your country and age range
- Your occupation, if you want to share it
- Which subject it fits, and which of the four ways it is
- Your story, pasted right into the email
Paste your story into the email rather than attaching a file. Attached documents can carry hidden details, like your real name, that you'd want kept private. You must be 18 or older. Every story is read by a person, and you'll hear back from me whatever the decision.
If you're struggling right now, you don't have to carry it alone.
